ABOUT ABOUT

The Mussel Slough Chronicles – A California Tragedy is about the 1880 shoot-out in Hanford and what led to it.

There are a fair number of books written about the Mussel Slough Tragedy beginning with The Octopus, a story of California, by Frank Norris published in 1901. There is also a fair number of opinions on who did the first shot.

This play explores how and why people settled in the San Joaquin Valley, took the task to make it an agricultural mecca, then lose it to the greed of the railroad barrons.

Also, the play shows how it led up to a devastating shoot-out now coined THE MUSSEL SLOUGH TRAGEDY.

There is no cost to this event. Donation boxed in lobby for both HMTC and Historical Society for your convience. (Two non-profits who share a building.)
